Erin Elizalde is majoring in Biochemistry, Studio Art, and Minoring in Latinx Studies & Spanish. Creating prints/ceramic pieces is a way to relieve the stress of academics. As a STEM major, there is very little room for expressiveness and creativity-- therefore, Art keeps Erin’s interests balanced.

Art is important to Erin because art provides an outlet for creativity in the midst of academic rigor. In addition, it allows her to express her experiences and culture in an abstract way. Of course, growing up, they had access to various surface-level classes. However, in their sophomore year, they were not satisfied with the STEM classes they were taking, so they decided to take on an art major to find enjoyable breaks in their rigorous schedule. The goal of Erin's art is to highlight their experiences as a Mexican-American artist.

Erin’s advice to aspiring artists is, “Don't hold back!”
